Thundersnow was caught on camera in Whitesboro, New York as an April nor’easter brought heavy snow to Upstate NY.
WHITESBORO, N.Y. – A resident in upstate New York captured video of thundersnow early Tuesday morning as a powerful late-season nor’easter brought heavy, wet snow, rain and strong winds to parts of the Northeast and New England Monday night and Tuesday.
Whitesboro, New York, resident Allen Stalker shared the video with that shows several flashes of lightning about about 2:40 a.m. that illuminated the sky.
More than a foot of snow has been reported across central and upstate New York, including more than 14 inches at the National Weather Service office in Binghamton.

The snow has also brought down trees and power lines across the region.
A Twitter user in Binghamton shared photos of a large tree branch that came crashing down and even broke through one of the home’s windows. Luckily, everyone inside the home was uninjured.
Heavy snow was also reported in Syracuse, New York, where several inches were seen on tree branches in photos posted to Twitter.
